Sheffield’s Pasta Sauce

One of our favorite cuisines is Italian, and one of our favorite Italian dishes is good marinara sauce, which is why Cheryl’s own pasta sauce is our favorite. Rich and savory, the favor is unmatched. Using the hot Italian sausage is one of the keys. It doesn’t make it too spicy, but if you prefer, use regular Italian sausage, but you’ll miss the full flavor.

The seasoning we use is our own Italian Seasoning. We blended it with our pasta sauce in mind. We wanted the classic Italian flavors and figured if it made the sauce taste great, then it would make any Italian recipe even better. So make a salad to have on the side with your pasta recipe and enjoy.

Serves 4 or more

Ingredients:
1 lb. Ground Beef (80% to 85% Lean)
1 lb. Hot Italian Sausage
1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
1 Large Onion, Diced
½ Green Pepper, Diced
1 32 oz. Bottle V-8 Juice
1 15 oz. Can Diced Tomatoes
3 14 oz. Cans of Tomato Sauce
2 6 oz. Cans of Tomato Paste
2 Tablespoons Italian Seasoning
1 Teaspoon Sugar
5 Cloves Garlic, Diced
Cooked pasta of your choice

Directions:
Brown the ground beef and hot Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. When browned, transfer the meat to a bowl with a slotted spoon.

In a large stock pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion and green pepper. Cook about 5 minutes or until the onion is translucent. Add V-8, tomato sauce, tomato juice, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, Italian Seasoning and sugar. Raise the heat. When it starts to boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer for 1 to 2 hours, allowing the flavors to develop.

Serve over your favorite pasta. Add a side salad and your meal is complete. Freeze the leftover sauce for another meal. We use our own Italian Salad Dressing Mix to make the salad dressing. The flavor is what you expect in an Italian Dressing. If you have not tried it, click HERE to take a look.

We also have an Easy Crusty Bread recipe, which makes a nice side to your meal, and you see in the picture.  To give it a try, please click HERE.
