Irish Breakfast – Rick’s Tea Face 01/16/2023

Ever have one of those mornings when you want, or should I say, need a real bold, robust, but brisk cup of tea? You have a lot of those? Me too at times. Today was one of those when a cup of our Irish Breakfast Tea was in order. If you’ve got into a tea conversation with us in our store over these last almost 10 years, then you’ll hear us say we drink more English Breakfast as our preferred morning tea than any other. But…for boldness, our Irish Breakfast has that little extra punch.

We’re asked about flavor, strength, and what gives the tea these characteristics. Since there is only on tea plant, it has to do with where it is grown, the soil, weather and other micro-environmental conditions. Indian regions, like the State of Assam, growth very strong tea. Many of the African teas are also on the bolder side. Both of which are in our Irish Breakfast. Our Irish Breakfast is blended with both an Assam and a Kenyan tea. The leaves from both of these tea leaves are “broken”, and when the tea leaf is broken, it exposes more surface area which steeps to a stronger cup of tea. That’s why our Irish Breakfast Tea is bolder, stronger, more robust or any other term you want to use to describe a proper cup of breakfast tea.

Irish, as with other breakfast-style black teas, are also bold enough to stand up to a splash as milk, which is how I learned to drink my teas a young lad. Funny though, because when my grandmother passed, both my mother and I stopped putting milk in our tea. Can’t remember why.

So, there you have it. A brisk, bold cuppa, just right to start a day when our English Breakfast just isn’t enough. If you want to read more about our Irish Breakfast Tea, please click HERE. Then stop in or pick up some on our website. The boldness won’t disappoint you. I think I’ll be sipping many more cups of Irish Breakfast Tea this week. Cheers!
