Bouquet Garni

Bouquet Garni means garnished bouquet and is traditionally sprigs of herbs tied together with a string or tied inside 2 leek leaves.  It is aromatic and has a savory and sweet flavor.  We hand crafted our blend from a variety of herbs used in traditional French versions, to be extra aromatic and flavorful.

Since our blend is a dried mixture of the traditional herbs, you can tie them in a muslin bag, cheesecloth sachet or use a tea ball or herb infuser.  Also, while most recipes tell you to remove the herb bundle at the end of your cooking, you can also add our blend in loose form directly to most recipes where they will cook into the dish with no need to remove them.  It is also Salt Free for those on a salt-restricted diet.

Besides French cuisine, it is also used in Italian, German and other European cuisines.  With Italian dishes, many of the herbs are already part of their recipes, so Bouquet Garni is a natural fit.

Bouquet Garni is traditionally used in many traditional French recipes including stocks, stews, soups, casseroles, seafood dishes and in other French recipes. Some of their names may or may not be familiar, but they are worth a look since many are found on fine restaurant menus in the United States. You will also find it used in many meat dishes, especially pork dishes.

Bouquet Garni is used in many dishes, both traditional French, and in recipes where a savory herb blend is needed. Some French dishes in which bouquet garni is used include Boeuf Bourguignonne, pot au feu, ossobuco, and bouillabaisse. We use it in a number of our recipes, including Windsor Soup, Classic Minestrone Soup, Chicken Wild Rice Soup, and French Onion Soup.
