Kansas City BBQ Rub

A traditional Kansas City BBQ Rub tends to be on the sweet side. Our blend has a bit of sweetness, but we prefer to let the other spices lead the way so your ribs, chicken or whatever you are grilling will have a great flavor without using sauce. Then if you want to add your sauce, you can create your final flavor. Our Kansas City Barbecue Rub compliments pork & beef ribs, chicken, pork loin roasts and tenderloins. It makes a great dry rub for Pulled Pork roasts.

Use 1-2 tablespoons of rub per pound of meat depending how heavy of a coating you prefer. Rub it into the meat well on all sides. Place meat in a re-sealable plastic bag or marinating container then place in the refrigerator 2-4 hours. For best results refrigerate longer and up to 24 hours if you have the time.

You can also use the rub to make a Barbecue Sauce. Put 2-3 tablespoons of the rub to 1 cup of tomato sauce, 1/2 cup of cider vinegar, and 1/2 cup of water in a medium sauce pan. Simmer on low for 20-30 minutes. You can adjust the amount of spice to suit your taste.
