Peaceful Sundown Tea – Rick’s Tea Face 09-07-2026

For my long-time Tea Face followers, you’ve read my annual remembrances for the anniversary of the 9-11 World Trade Center Attacks. For many days around Sept. 11th, I’ll be sipping our Peaceful Sundown. Since it’s a time of thoughtful reflection, a calming tea seems right to me. I’m sure many of you have a favorite “reflecting tea”. What is different about this year and why am I writing about 9-11 early? Please indulge me a bit, as I have some personal connections to 9-11, as some of you might have as well.

It’s been 25 years since the World Trade Towers fell. The scenes we saw and the aftermath is still fresh as if it was yesterday. I was on my way to my office in Michigan when the first attack occurred. I was stunned. The next day I starting making the “9-11′ Red, White & Blue Ribbons. I made over 1000. The next month, I bought 1000 ribbon lapel pins, which I wore daily for years, and still wear every year on my store apron, for the week leading up to 9-11. From donations I collected for both, I sent thousands of dollars to a Non-Profit which helped families affected.

I had an associate who lost 2 friends, who were flight attendants on one of the planes. I have another family whose son worked for American Airlines and was in an adjacent building at the time. He lost co-workers. My financial firm, had offices in the South Tower. All 598 employees managed to get out. I have other connections, but suffice to say, 25 years later and we all must never forget what happened, and must always remember those still affected and still dying as a result of the attack and their exposure to the debris.

What I’m saying is that we all have times of deep reflection for many personal reasons, and we turn to comfort foods and beverages. Peaceful Sundown is my tea of choice, What’s yours?
