Greek Mountain Honey Tea

Greek Mountain Honey Tea is a very flavorful herbal tea with many healthy properties. It’s main ingredient, Greek Mountain Tea, or Sideritis, also known as Ironwort, has been drank for over 2400 years, going back to the days of Hippocrates, considered the father of modern medicine, who declared it’s benefits for the immune and respiratory systems. In Greece today, it is still drank for many healthy reasons, including the common cold and the flu.

The Greek Mountain Tea herb, Sideritis, is a flowering perennial grown very high in the mountainous regions of Greece, the Balkans, Macedonia and other Mediterranean areas. It has a floral flavor, with notes of mint and citrus.

Our blender takes the Sideritis, and adds additional components like apple pieces, fennel, eucalyptus, ginger, a bit Manuka honey powder and other herbs, for a delicious herbal tea. Drink it as the Greeks do, with a touch of honey for an absolutely delightful cup.

When it comes to the healthy components of Greek Mountain Tea, it contains high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols, and essential oils, including flavonoids. Ongoing studies have compared it’s antioxidant benefits on the same level as green tea. A number of studies are looking at Sideritis and its potential as an anti-inflammatory, digestive and benefits for cognitive conditions, including Alzheimer’s.

We make no claims for these treatments and benefits, so we are bringing you the folk uses of Sideritis, which have been studied for centuries and thousands of years.

And by the way, for an herbal, Caffeine-free tea, it tastes very good, straight up or with a touch of sweetener.

We have many other herbal teas, all healthy and caffeine free. Take a look at our Peaceful Sundown Tea, Lemony Comfort and Twisted Turmeric to highlight a few. We have many more.
