Elderberry Black Tea – Rick’s Tea Face 03-17-2025

We just brought this tea in, so I had to show it to our friends. It’s Elderberry Black Tea. I love elderberry as a tea, and as a tea ingredient. They add a great berry base, which also adds body to a fruit-based tea. Since this is a black tea, I get my great elderberry flavor, and my black tea, so it’s a twofer. We grew up with elderberry jams, wines, and as a healthy base for some medicinal things, so the flavor is very familiar to me. Elderberries are also in some of our most popular teas, like Strawberry Tart, Blue Persuasion, Berry Squared, and others, so when we had the chance to bring this one in for you, we thought we’d try it out. If it catches on, we’ll keep it.

Elderberries go back thousands of years for cooking, wines, and for medicinal uses. We bring in tea for their taste. If our friends like the ingredients for other reasons, like medicinal uses, then that’s an extra benefit. Elderberries are used as a base for respiratory conditions, including in commercial cough syrups and preparations. I’ll drink elderberry tea, or an elderberry-based tea myself when I get a cough. BUT…. I also drink them because they taste good.
