Blood Orange Tea

Blood Orange Tea has an intense orange flavor, yet has sweetness notes, reminding you of freshly squeezed oranges. A blood orange has some raspberry-like notes, giving it a flavor beyond a traditional orange. We know this tea will be appreciated by our friends who like not just orange flavored teas, but for anyone who appreciates citrus flavors in any tea.

The Blood Orange first appeared in Sicily in the 17th century. The actual history isn’t known other than it is a mutation of the traditional orange, which was across between a tangerine and a pomelo. It has a dark, maroon color, giving it its name. It is grown throughout Sicily, Italy and the Mediterranean region, but also in Texas and California in the United States.

To complete the flavor, our blender only uses high grown teas from the top 3 tea growing regions of Sri Lanka – Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula and Uva. The result is a tea worthy of any tea cup when looking for an orange or citrus-flavored black tea.

If you enjoy orange flavor teas, you might also want to consider our Creamsicle Rooibos Tea. Like the ice cream of the same name, the Orange-Vanilla flavor is sure to make your tea guests ask for another cup, hot or cold.

We also have a Ginger Orange Pu-erh.

If you like fruity teas, we have many in black, green and herbal.  Among the many we carry, please consider our Strawberry Patch Green Tea, Bohemian Raspberry Green Tea, Strawberry Black Tea, Berry Fusion Herbal Tea, Tahitian Breeze Black Tea, Black Currant Black Tea and Mountain Huckleberry Black Tea.  We have far too many to name here.

Bring filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9oz of water in the teapot. Pour the boiling water into your tea cup or the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea).

ICED TEA BREWING METHOD (Pitcher): (To Make Quart):
Place 6 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose tea into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups over the tea. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the tea. Add ice and top-up the pitcher to 1 quart with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to increase the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water. (Note: Some luxury quality teas may turn cloudy when poured over ice. This is a sign of luxury quality and nothing to worry about.)

Ingredients: Black tea, Orange pieces, Blackberry leaves, Safflower petals, Natural flavors (organic compliant)
