Lucky Cat Ceramic Cup
Everyone needs a Lucky Cat Ceramic Cup. Whether you know the story of Maneki Neko or not, Lucky Cats are just cute. Their face, smile, ears…embodiment of a cute kitty. These cups are kind of a 2-way cup. When sitting on your shelf, they are set upside down, and they look at you. Their ears and tail tip are the feet of the cup, so when you sip your tea, you flip the cup over and enjoy.
We have these cups in both Red and Black.
If you’re not familiar with Maneki Neko, the Lucky Cat has a long and storied history, with several legends surrounding their origin. Here’s a short summary. Maneki Neko goes back to the Edo Period in Japan. The 1600’s to 1800’s. There are many versions of the legend, but they all have in common that Maneki Neko saves a priest from a fire, (the version we follow), a nobleman from a storm. or a shop owner saving this stray cat. The cat beckons them with it’s waving paw, which you also see in their depictions. There are other versions of the legend. Maneki Neko cats are viewed as symbols of luck and business prosperity.
Also, you might or might not know that the Lucky Cat is a Calico kitty, so you might already own a real one.
