White Sage Smudge Stick

The use of a White Sage Smudge Stick for ritual purposes is as old as time. Sage, cedar and other herbs are used by themselves or in combination for smudging is found among many cultures and peoples around the world. White Sage Smudge Sticks are used by some Native Americans for cleansing, purification and other sacred purposes, accompanied with prayers. They will also smudge to attract good energies and dispel negative ones.

Other cultures use smudge sticks in the same way but also while meditating, praying and for other rituals, as you would burn incense.

Studies have shown that sage and other smudging herbs have antiseptic and purifying effects, but we make no claims on the effects.

To use a smudge stick, light one end and blow or fan gently, extinguishing the flames so that it just smolders. Native Americans will use a feather to gently spread the smoke. You can place the stick while smoldering in a large shell, like abalone, or another clay or ceramic bowl. Thoroughly extinguish the smudge stick after use.
