Everything Bagel Ham & Cheese Pinwheels
These Everything Bagel Ham & Cheese Pinwheels are a variation on the traditional ham and cheese ones. We brush a bit of Dijon mustard and sprinkle some of our Everything Bagel Seasoning in them adding a fresh flavor to this traditional recipe.
These make a delicious appetizer or a small plates dish when you entertain your guests. If you make a double batch, you can use a different cheese for a second flavor. Enjoy!
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 Sheet Puff Pastry, Thawed
4 to 6 Thin Slices of Cheese, about 4 oz. We use Sharp Cheddar, but others like Brie, Swiss, Muenster and Gruyere also compliment ham.
6 Thin Deli Slices Ham, about 4 oz. You want a deli ham with flavor. We use Black Forest Ham since it has a good flavor when heated. Baked ham, honey ham and similar work just as well.
2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
2 Tablespoons Sheffield’s Everything Bagel Seasoning
1 Egg and 1 Tablespoon Water
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 400ºF. Set the rack in the middle position.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Lay the cheese slices on the pastry. Don’t overlap the slices. Trim the slices if needed so they fit the pastry sheet. Lay the ham slices on top of the cheese. Overlap if needed.
Brush the Dijon mustard evenly on the ham slices. Sprinkle the Everything Bagel Seasoning evenly on top of the mustard.
Carefully roll up the pastry along the long side, like a jellyroll. Transfer the roll to a plate and place in the freezer for 5 minutes, making it easier to slice.
Remove the roll from the freezer and onto a cutting board. Slice the roll into 12 slices, about ½” to ¾” thick. Place them cut side down on the parchment lined baking sheet.
Lightly beat the egg and water. Brush the egg mixture on the top and sides of the pinwheels.
Bake for 15 minutes in the pre-heated oven, or until the pinwheels are golden brown. Bake another 2 to 5 minutes if needed. Watch so they don’t burn. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes. Enjoy!
