Greek Beef Kabobs

Our Greek Beef Kabobs is an easy, healthy dish to make. Grilling them adds a nice char. Our Mediterranean Seasoning, with the lemon, other spices and herbs in the marinade gives them a classic Greek flavor. Makes you want to say Opa!

Serve with Tzatziki Sauce for dipping, Greek pita bread, rice pilaf and a small Greek salad for a perfect meal you’ll find in any good Greek restaurant. You can also split the pita bread and serve them as a sandwich, topped with Tzatziki Sauce, tomatoes, and dice cucumbers. Any way you serve them, you’ll be a hit with your family and dinner guests.

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients:
2 Pounds Boneless Beef. Use top sirloin or a similar cut. Tenderloin is good but can be expensive.
1 Cup Plain Whole Milk Greek Yogurt
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
Zest of One Lemon
2 Tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
3 Tablespoons Sheffield’s Mediterranean Seasoning
4 Teaspoons Minced Garlic (About 3 to 4 Large Cloves)
½ Teaspoon Sea Salt
¼ Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1 Large Red Onion, cut into wedges, and separated into pieces.
Vegetable Oil, for brushing on the grill.
Tzatziki Sauce to serve as a dipping sauce.
Pita bread to serve on the side or as a pocket bread to make into sandwiches.

Directions:
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, Mediterranean Seasoning, garlic, salt, and pepper. Set aside until needed.

Cut the beef into 1″ to 1 ½” cubes. Skewer onto 6-8 metal skewers, alternating with the red onion pieces. (If you use bamboo skewers, make sure they have been well-soaked in water.) Do not make the beef and onion too tight on the skewers. Place the kabobs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, or a large platter. Brush the seasoned yogurt marinade on the beef and onions coating them well. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least six to eight hours or overnight if you have the time.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush the oil on the grill grates, using tongs and a paper towel dipped in the oil. Grill the kebabs about 8 to 10 minutes, until cooked through, turning skewers every couple minutes. Don’t overcook or they will burn or dry out. Transfer the skewers to a platter and serve.

Serve with the pita bread on the side and Tzatziki Sauce for dipping. Add a side of Rice Pilaf, Greek Salad or other Mediterranean side dish of your choice. You can use the Pita Bread as a pocket pita to make into sandwiches, topped with onion, diced cucumber, tomato and tzatziki sauce.
