Ground Black Pepper Medium Grind
Our Ground Black Pepper Coarse Grind is a coarser grade of ground pepper used in many dishes where a more pronounced black pepper flavor is desired. Coarse pepper is the hallmark of Steak au Poivre, which is French Pepper Steak. It is our personal favorite steak served at our favorite Las Vegas restaurant. The pepper flavor comes through by using the coarse grind, but not so much to make it too spicy.
Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum) are unripe, Green Peppercorns, which have been heated in hot water, then dried. As they dry, the outer skin shrinks and dries, taking on the black color. It has a medium to hot spiciness and can be intensely fragrant. These characteristics can change with the annual harvest depending on weather conditions which affect the flavor and aroma.
Pepper is one of the most common spices in the world and is used in various forms in most cuisines. It gives off a warm, spicy flavor and adds a depth to any dish. It combines well with just about any spice. Coarse Ground Black Pepper is wonderful sprinkled on top of salads, pasta, cooked vegetables or sauces, or rubbed into meat before grilling. Use in Sauces, Marinades, Vinaigrettes and Creamy Salad Dressings to add a little zip.
