Description

Monk’s Blend Black Tea

Monk’s Blend Black Tea is one of our most flavorful teas. The dramatic combination of vanilla and grenadine ensures a particular satisfying cup. We’ve had Monk’s Blend since we opened. It’s one of those classic teas, along with Earl Grey, and several others whose history as a flavor goes way back, and has many versions. Regardless of the version you believe, it’s a tea you need to sip, and our version is as good as it gets.

Monk’s Blend has a solid black tea base and then flavored with a delicious mixture of grenadine and vanilla. One historical version is that it was first created by Tibetan monks, to be sipped all day. It has sweet and toasty notes with a touch of dryness and a subtle bouquet. Originally, it is believed that this blend was developed by the monks to support their life’s desires, especially the work that they did all by hand. Tea is an item that these monks considered good for the soul. Franciscan monks used to drink this tea to keep them awake during long periods of meditation. It is fair to say that this is an ancient and harmonious blend, as it is also used by Buddhist and Taoist monks.

If you like vanilla hints in your teas, then Monk’s Blend should be on your radar. You might be in for a pleasant surprise. We have many converts who had never heard of Monk’s Blend before and now include it in their tea rotation. Give it a try and you too might fall in love with it.

If you like a touch of vanilla flavor in your teas, then you also might want to consider Cream Earl Grey Black Tea and Cream Earl White Tea. We also have a Vanilla Black Tea and a Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos.

If you are into traditional teas with long, storied histories, you might also want to look at our Earl Grey Tea, and Rose Black Tea. Both go way back, with Rose Tea made famous by Queen Victoria and sipped in her royal court. Earl Grey was the preferred tea by Queen Elizabeth.
