Slow Cooker Beef & Broccoli
Slow Cooker Beef & Broccoli is an easy and very delicious dish. Our Asian Accents Seasoning gives the beef strips and broccoli a savory flavor, complimenting the sweetness of the brown sugar and saltiness of the soy sauce. Serve over rice to complete the dish. We like to add a small Asian Chopped Salad, topped with our Sesame Ginger Salad Dressing.
Ingredients:
2 Pounds Boneless Beef Chuck Roast Cut into ¼ Inch Strips
3 Tablespoons Canola Oil
1 ½ Cups Beef Broth
¾ Cup Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoons Sheffield’s Asian Accents Seasoning
1 ½ Tablespoon Sesame Oil
1 ½ Tablespoon Minced Garlic
½ Cup Dark Brown Sugar. Light Brown works too if you prefer.
2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
1 (12-ounce) Bag Frozen Broccoli Florets.
Cooked Rice for Serving. You can use jasmine rice for extra flavor if you like.
Sliced Green Onions for Garnish
Sesame Seeds for Garnish
Serves 4
Directions:
Heat canola oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. When it starts to shimmer, transfer the beef strips to the skillet. Sear for a minute, frequently turning, until browned a bit. Don’t brown too much, since you’re not cooking it at this time, just browning it a bit for more flavor. Remove from the heat and transfer to a slow cooker, set to low heat.
In a medium mixing bowl, add the beef broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, Sheffield’s Asian Accents Seasoning, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Whisk to combine well. Pour the sauce over the beef strips in the slow cooker. Toss to coat evenly.
Cover and cook on low heat for 2 ½ hours. Ladle ¼ to ½ cup of the sauce into a small bowl. Add the cornstarch and whisk to combine well. Pour the mixture back into the slow cooker, stirring as you pour to combine into the sauce.
Cover and cook another 15 minutes. At this point, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker. Stir them a bit to combine them into the beef strips and sauce. Cover and cook another 45 minutes. Check the broccoli for doneness. The florets should be fork tender. Cook another 10-15 minutes if needed. They shouldn’t be over-cooked.
Serve the beef & broccoli with the sauce over the rice. Garnish with the green onions and sesame seeds.
