Gourmet Baked Beans

This Gourmet Baked Beans Recipe is a bit different, but very delicious. It has a creamy texture due to the evaporated milk. But, it also has an “old school” baked bean flavor many of us grew up with, since it has brown sugar and an extra bit of molasses. And the couple dashes of Tabasco® adds a little something extra. Doesn’t add spiciness, just a little something extra it needs. Once you try them, they might become your preferred way to make baked beans,

They make a great side dish for burgers, ribs, steaks, hot dogs, or pretty much anything you would serve with Baked Beans. They make a perfect side dish for a deli sandwich instead of chips or cole slaw.

Give them a try. You might add them into your baked bean rotation or when you need to take a side dish to a cookout. You’ll be surprised how many will love them. Enjoy!

Yield: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon Cider Vinegar
Evaporated Milk (about 1 Cup)
½ Cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
¼ Cup Flour
1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard Powder
½ Tablespoon Sea Salt
2 Cans (about 16 Oz Ea.) Molasses-style Baked Beans
2 Slices of Bacon, cut into 1″ pieces. (Optional)
1 Tablespoon Dark Molasses
2 or 3 Dashes Tabasco® Sauce

Directions:
Pour the vinegar into a 1 cup liquid measuring cup. Add evaporated milk to measure it up to the 1 cup mark. Whisk to combine.

In a medium mixing bowl, add the brown sugar, flour, dry mustard, and salt. Combine thoroughly. Add the evaporated milk mixture, whisking to blend thoroughly. Add the baked beans, bacon (if using), molasses and Tabasco®. Stir to combine. Pour into a 1 ½ or 2 quart casserole dish.

Cover and cook at 350ºF for 35-40 minutes. Stir 2 or 3 times during cooking. Remove from the oven and serve with your meal. Enjoy.
