Durango Hickory Smoked Salt is created when delicate Pacific sea salt flakes are naturally smoked over premium Hickory hard wood.  Hickory Smoked Salt is smoky, full flavored, sweet and powerful, with a rich earthy texture.  The resulting smoke flavor is full and clean without the bitterness.  A delicious, versatile coarse grain sea salt for roasting, grilling and as a finishing salt, this smoked salt enriches foods both on and off the grill. Hickory smoke is synonymous with southern cooking.  It enhances many foods, including beef, poultry, seafood, vegetables and many more.

Sprinkle on your steaks before grilling, or on your roasts before roasting, even indoors. Rub or sprinkle on your burgers depending on how heavy of a smokiness you are trying to achieve. It adds the outdoor smokey flavor without adding wood chips to your grill. Serve as a finishing salt to sprinkle on your steak instead of steak sauce. We’ve been in restaurants where they provided a “flight” of different smoked and flavored salts to show how different salt flavors can change the sensory experience of the dish.

The same applies to poultry, whether chicken, turkey or other fowl. You don’t need to add a lot unless you are looking for a heavier, smokey flavor, as if you smoked the poultry for hours.

Smokey flavors are a hallmark of many cuisines, especially Southwest, Mexican and Cajun & Creole. Tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, burritos and carne asada are just a few South of the Border dishes which will thank you for a dash of smoked salt.

Try it on hot, buttered popcorn. Add as your secret ingredient in your favorite vinaigrettes, barbecue sauces and grilling spice rubs. This smoked sea salt is also an excellent curing salt or brining salt.
