Kentucky Bourbon Black Tea

Kentucky Bourbon Black Tea is a very complex-flavored tea. Of course there isn’t any bourbon in the tea, but our blender uses various ingredients and flavors to replicate the nuances of a fine, aged bourbon.

They start with a smoky Keemun black tea, and a Lapsang Souchong, which is also a smoky black tea. Both of these teas give a solid base flavor of the charred oak barrels in which bourbon is aged. They add some whiskey flavor to complete the main flavor. They then add some cocoa flavor, vanilla, apple and others to add all the complex nuances of a fine aged Kentucky Bourbon.

This might not be everyone’s tea, but with the popularity of bourbon BBQ sauces, and other bourbon-flavored dishes, after receiving requests for a bourbon-flavored tea, we knew we had to offer this tea once we found it. You might to want to sip it slowly as you would with fine aperitif. Add a touch of sugar and a bit of mint and you might even imagine yourself at the Kentucky Derby with a mint julep.

Steeping Directions:
Hot tea brewing method: Put a slightly heaping tsp of loose tea for each 8oz of water in the cup or teapot. Pour the boiling water over tea. Steep 5 to 7 minutes. Garnish with fresh fruit or sweeten to taste.

Iced Tea: For a Liter or quart use 2 heaping Tbsp. of loose tea into teapot. Pour 1 1/4 cup boiling water on tea. Steep 5 minutes. Quarter fill serving pitcher straining teas. Add Ice. Top up with cold water, garnish & sweeten to taste.
