Butterfly Pea Flower – Rick’s Tea Face 12/31/2023
Go Blue! Yes, it’s blue tea, which is Butterfly Pea Flower Tea. And why not, as it is my nod to my Michigan Wolverines playing in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
It’s the only tea with a natural blue color, which makes it appropriate when you need a blue tea, or just a blue tint to a beverage. It’s added to many teas to add a blue tint, while it adds a bit of a woody flavor, which is the trademark flavor of Butterfly Pea Flower. When steeped, it has the natural blue color, which is how I’m sipping it, with a touch of sweetener. A slash of lime juice is then added which turns it purple. But, I needed to keep it blue, so I didn’t add the lime.
