Coastal Shrimp Boil

Coastal Shrimp Boil

A Coastal Shrimp Boil is a standard dish along the east coast and around the gulf region. It is an especially popular dish during the Summer months when you can get fresh shrimp, crab and other ingredients along the beach where you can set up your pot and prepare your meal. The Andouille Sausage, potatoes, corn cobettes, and other ingredients make a complete meal. We use our Sheffield’s Chesapeake Bay Seasoning for the classic flavor you need, except we house-craft our blend for an even larger flavor. Enjoy!

This is a complete meal, but many times at dinners serving these seafood boils, they will be served with a side of Red Beans & Rice, or Dirty Rice. Enjoy!

Servings: 4

Ingredients:
2 ½ Quarts Water
6 Large Cloves of Garlic, Peeled and Smashed
1 Medium Yellow Onion, Quartered
2 Ounces (about ⅓ cup) Sheffield’s Chesapeake Bay Seasoning, Divided. Set aside 1 Tablespoon for serving.
2 Teaspoons Dried Thyme
1 Tablespoon Kosher Flake Salt
4 Medium Red Potatoes, Halved
3 Ears of Corn, husks removed and each ear cut into 4 pieces
12 Ounces Andouille Sausage, cut into 1″ slices
10 oz Shrimp, Shelled and Deveined with the tail left on
2 Tablespoons, Fresh Lemon Juice
4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
2 Teaspoons Freshly Ground Black Pepper
¼ Cup Fresh Parsley, Chopped Fine for Garnish
Lemon Wedges for Serving

Directions:
Fill a large stock pot with 2 ½ quarts of water. Add the garlic, onion, Sheffield’s Chesapeake Bay Seasoning, salt, and thyme. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Add the potatoes and cook for about 12-15 minutes, while still firm. Don’t overcook or they will fall apart in the water. Add corn and continue to cook for 3 minutes. Add sausage and cook another 4 minutes.

Add the shrimp and cook about 1 to 2 minutes, or until they are opaque. Don’t cook for more than 2 minutes, or they could be tough.

Turn off the heat. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp, sausage, and vegetables to a large serving platter. Ladle 1 to 2 cups of the broth over platter if desired.

Drizzle with the melted butter and lemon juice. Sprinkle with the reserved 1 tablespoon of the Chesapeake Bay Seasoning, and the black pepper. Garnish with the parsley, and the lemon wedges.

It’s a meal in itself, but you can also serve with Red Beans & Rice, or Dirty Rice if you need an extra side dish. Enjoy!
