Black Hawaiian Lava Sea Salt
Black Hawaiian Lava Sea Salt is a standard salt in Hawaiian cooking. It has a jet black black color and smooth texture. When used as a finishing salt, it makes for a dramatic presentation. It also has a slightly smoky flavor.
The salt comes from evaporated Hawaiian sea water, along with activated charcoal made from coconut shells. It has been used in Hawaiian folk medicine for numerous health benefits which include antioxidant properties and enhanced digestive health. Hawaiian lava salt with its light smoky flavor is mainly used as a finishing salt for foods and desserts, like steaks, pork dishes and even desserts.
