Tomato Powder
Tomato Powder is made from sun dried tomatoes, which are then ground into a powder. It has a mild tomato flavor. Make a sweet tasting paste or sauce in a matter of minutes. No more opening cans of paste only to use a portion and letting the rest go to waste. This is the easy way to make a tablespoon or two when needed.
It is wonderful for adding color and flavor to fresh pasta, noodle and bread doughs. It can also be used in yeast breads, quick breads or muffins. Add a little to vegetable soup or stews for a richer stock with hint of tomato flavor. As a topping, sprinkle tomato powder on popcorn, deviled eggs, hummus, fish, breads, etc.
Use it as a thickener in gumbo, sauces, soups and stews. In addition, you can sprinkle it on bagels, breads, chili, eggs, dressings, fish, nachos, pizza, salad or vegetables.
To make tomato sauce use 1 part tomato powder to 4 parts water and for a thicker tomato paste use 1 part tomato powder to 2 parts water (for a thinner paste add additional water).
