St Louis BBQ Rub

Our popular St Louis BBQ Rub is one of our personal favorites, and very popular with our friends. Our combination of sweetness and a touch of heat, provides a great balance for your dish, whether you are cooking ribs, a pork butt, chicken or other cut of your choosing.

Typically in St. Louis, the barbecue is either going to be the St. Louis cut of ribs or a Pork Steak. They are both popular. St. Louis barbeque sauce has a nice sweetness, a bit of a tang and a bit of heat. Not too hot, but just enough to let you know it’s more than ketchup. These are the characteristics of our St. Louis BBQ Rub as well.

To use, rub a generous tablespoon per pound on your meat. Rub in well on all sides. Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours, allowing the flavors to develop and be absorbed into the meat.

Slow cooking over low heat is the key to most barbecue methods, regardless of what you grilling. Most cooks hold off brushing on the sauce until near the end of the cooking time so that the sauce doesn’t burn. Be sure to reapply several times on all sides to make sure the meat is liberally coated.

In addition, you can also use this rub as a general seasoning for chicken, pork or seafood as well as seasoning for grilled and roasted vegetables, potatoes and as a French Fry sprinkle.
