Samurai Mate – Rick’s Tea Face 03/21/2023
I sip Samurai Mate every so often, but haven’t “faced” it in 5 years, so it was time. Mate has more caffeine than black tea, but doesn’t have the jolt and crash of coffee. Even with that aside, I just like the citrusy flavor, with notes of cardamom, cinnamon and others associated with chai teas. Our friends agree, and love the flavor when we sample it in the store. Many have to buy a package once they taste it.
Samurai Mate is an interesting blend, with Green Yerba mate and Green Rooibos as its base. It has Lemongrass, Pineapple, Papaya, and other fruits for a luscious citrus flavor. It also has some Cinnamon, Ginger, Cardamom and other spices to give it some light Chai notes. I also like to use more of it for a stronger cup and a fuller flavor. It depends on my attitude.
