Ground Cumin is ground from the seed of a small annual herb. Cumin is grown in numerous regions of the world, including India, The Middle East, Egypt, and other Mediterranean regions. It’s distinctive aroma and flavor has been used for cooking, medicinal and preservative purposes for thousands of years. There are references in ancient Egypt in the time of the Pharaohs as well as in the Bible.

Ground Cumin is used in various cuisines around the world. In India and Pakistan, it is used to create curry spice blends, like Garam Masala, Madras Curry Powder, Vadouvan Curry Seasoning, Maharajah Curry Powder, Tandoori Curry Spice and others. It is also used in soups, stews and chutneys. In the Middle East, it is used to season meat and vegetable dishes, such as Couscous. It is also used in Northern African blends, such as our Harissa Spice and Ras El Hanout.
