Lemongrass

Lemongrass has a sweet lemon taste profile. Often used in teas to impart a lemon character without the tangy flavor. Open a packet and inhale its subtle yet complex aroma. This perennial herb, native to Southeast Asia is noted for its lemony scent and ginger undertones. Its lemon character is due to a high concentration of citral, its main biological component.

Lemongrass is an important cooking ingredient, especially in Southeastern Asian recipes.  It’s also use as an ingredient in spice blends, also important in Thai Curry Blends.  We use it in both our Thai Red Curry Spice, and our Thai Coconut Green Curry Powder.

If you are using as a tea flavoring, you might also consider our other herbs and flowers used: Lavender, Rose Petals, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Spearmint, Peppermint.

Hot tea brewing method: Put 1 slightly heaping tsp of loose tea for each 7-9oz/200-260ml of water in the teapot. Pour the boiled water over tea. Cover and let steep for 5-10 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time, the better the flavor as more fruit or herb flavor is extracted). Garnish and sweeten to taste.
