Icewine Green Tea – Rick’s Tea Face 02-18-2024
It’s still Winter and some of these nights, even in Las Vegas, can be biting cold. The lower humidity makes the cold temps feel even colder. So….as an homage to how icy weather can enhance some foods and drinks, I’m sipping some Icewine Green Tea. You might already know we have an Icewine Black Tea, but we’ve had a green tea version for about a year. It’s only available in teabags, in beautiful embossed, collectible tins.. Icewine is a late-harvest white wine, produced in certain areas of the world and only in certain years. If the conditions are right, the grapes are allowed to freeze on the vine, at which time they are harvested and pressed. These shriveled, frozen gapes have such a concentrated juice, they only give up a drop or two of this sweet, syrup-like nectar. When made into wine, the result is a very sweet, grapey wine. With this green tea version, the icewine grapey flavor isn’t as large as the black tea version, but you don’t always have the flavors to jump out as much since you many times also want the green tea flavor to come through. The grapey flavor is still there, waiting to be enjoyed with a tea biscuit or scone.
If you like the larger flavors, then pick up a package of the Icewine Black Tea. Better yet, buy them both and see which you prefer. Now, back to my cup. Cheers!
