Milford Farmhouse Seasoning

We crafted the Milford Farmhouse Seasoning as a “throwback” to our roots in Michigan and Cheryl’s aunt and uncle, who had a farm in Milford, Michigan. Growing up, Cheryl would visit her aunt’s farm for family get-togethers . She would play, swim and hang out all day with cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents. They would then have large dinners, where of course the women did all the cooking and would make roasts, chicken, potatoes, pork chops, pork roasts and vegetables, even game meats like venison. You know, typical farm-style meals.

Cheryl wanted to capture the flavors of these dishes and the spices she remembers which were used in their meals. This would include a liberal amount of black pepper, along with onion and other spices and herbs for a very savory flavor. We used shallots instead of onion for a softer flavor which allows the other spices and herbs to come through. Cheryl wanted a blend which could be used on many different foods, from meats and vegetables to side dishes. The resulting blend captured the taste she remembers eating at the dinners at the farmhouse.

Rub some on your roasts, steaks, pork chops and burgers. Sprinkle on your chicken, vegetables and potatoes. One taste and you’ll find many more uses. We’re still finding more ourselves.
