Smokey Stuffed Bacon Cheddar Avocado Burgers

Smokey Stuffed Bacon Cheddar Avocado Burgers

Our Smokey Stuffed Bacon Cheddar Avocado Burgers are a twist on stuffed burgers. We make stuffed burgers on the grill all Summer, with the usual ingredients. But, this version adds a touch of smoked salt to the ground beef, as well as a sprinkling on the Avocado slices. The smoked salt gives an outdoor grilled flavor, and compliments the avocado in way you have to try to enjoy. The Applewood Smoked Bacon also continues the theme.

Stuffed burgers are a fun way make a great meal, and allow your diners to further customize their own. You can always add other ingredients to the stuffing mixture like sauteed onions, but be careful. Too many items won’t heat right, cause the burger to split at the sides, or the flavors will be lost and nothing comes through clearly. Less can be more with stuffed burgers. Be sure to use a heartier bun as well. It provides a better base to hold the burger and not have it hang over the sides.

Yield: 4 to 6 burgers

Ingredients:
1 ½ Pounds Ground Beef
½ Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
½ Teaspoon Granulated Onion
1 Teaspoon Smoked Salt (We Use Mesquite or Hickory), plus a bit more for the avocado
1 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
4 Slices Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cooked, and Crumbled
1 Cup Grated Sharp English or Irish Cheddar
4 Larger Quality Burger Buns
Sliced Avocado
Lettuce, tomato, pickles for optional garnish

Directions:
Preheat grill to medium-high.
Place the meat in a large mixing bowl. Season the meat with Garlic, Onion, Smoked Salt and Pepper. Gently mix together. Form 8 larger or 12 smaller patties, depending on how many and how large you want your burgers to be. Indent the middle of half of the patties with your thumb. The fillings will go here.

Equally divide the cheese and bacon between the burgers and place in the indentations. Add the second patty and pinch the edges together to seal them. Cook on the grill for 5 to 7 minutes per side depending on desired doneness. Watch so they don’t burn, but are cooked throughly through.

Serve on the buns. Add a slice of the avocado with a light sprinkling of the Smoked Salt. Have the other garnishes available for topping, but the combination of the smokiness, bacon, cheese and avocado flavors really don’t need anything else.
