New Mexico Mild Red Chile Powder
There are a lot of red chile peppers, but there is only one true New Mexican Red Chile Pepper, and that one is grown in and around Hatch, New Mexico. Hot days, cool nights, and family traditions give this legendary New Mexican pepper its unmistakable character. We buy our New Mexico Chile Pepper directly from the grower in Hatch, who grows, hand harvests, slow dries, and hand packs it for your cooking pleasure. Slow drying gives a rich, earthy, sweet taste and a brighter red color.
The powdered red chile is used to make traditional New Mexican and other Southwest “Red” Sauces, and as a general cooking spice. Add to your chilis or your Italian Sauces. Make a Red Sauce and smother your breakfast burrito, heuvos rancheros, enchiladas or tamales.
You can substitute any New Mexican Chile Pepper for other chile peppers, paprika, etc., to change the flavor and texture of the dish. Hotter, milder, red versus green…use your imagination and experiment.
